Over factory-made cabinets, custom cabinets have many advantages. First and foremost, there is the simple problem of quality. Custom cabinets have a very long service life and won’t warp, break, or bend because they are constructed and designed nearly like furniture rather than being slapped together from pressboard.
The design element comes in second. With custom cabinetry, you have more possibilities than just picking colors and panel patterns from a range of ready-made choices. Instead, you are in total charge of the entire design process from beginning to end. This design flexibility not only enables you to create the precise aesthetic you choose for your kitchen, but it also lets you customize all the functional elements of your cabinetry to meet your unique requirements. In other words, you are in charge of ensuring that you receive the storage options you desire.
You won’t waste space
With cabinetry that is custom-made to fit your space exactly, you can do away with gaps and unused space around walls and appliances. Additionally, you can decide whether to leave a space between the cabinets so that it can be used as a shelf to exhibit rarely used or ornamental things, or to extend the cabinets all the way to the ceiling to maximize enclosed storage space.
You can add unique storage options to your custom cabinets.
Additionally, you might want to think about including some of these original storage concepts in your custom cabinetry:
Pull-Out Spice Rack: If you don’t like to stack spices on top of one another, your spice collection may take up a lot of cabinet space. Installing a specialized slide-out rack to organize your spices into neat rows can save a ton of space.
Use a fold-out dish towel hanging rack connected to the inside of one of your lower cabinet doors to keep dish towels handy but hidden.
Island Wine Rack: A kitchen island can add extra storage space in addition to extra work space for food preparation or informal dining. Making a wine rack out of the narrow edge of your kitchen island is an intriguing use for this area. This will keep your wines close at hand and give the island some additional visual interest.
Appliance Cabinets: If you enjoy the practicality of kitchen appliances like microwaves, coffee makers, blenders, etc. but dislike the cluttered appearance they produce on your countertops, think about building a custom appliance cabinet to house them permanently and out of sight. To route your wires to an existing outlet, you can have an outlet put into the cabinet or a hidden hole left in the cabinet wall.
Cookbook Bookshelf: If you enjoy cooking, you might want to think about putting a built-in bookshelf inside one of your cabinets to organize all of your recipes.
Seating and storage: Where will your guests be kept while you cook? Along the back of an island or in a kitchen corner, you can design a custom bench seating space. Make sure to install deep drawers or shelves to make the most of the space under the bench.
